…will do during the holiday season? What about a "Pagan or Wiccan" business approach to the season will do?

When I say business approach I mean marketing strategies, products in stores, etc.

well I would look at how well walmart did with that strategy…if they can’t make it work its probably not a great idea

I have read Lou Gertsner’s book but I am looking for something more recent on their sales methodology and internal operational and management structure.

How should I approach a business owner to sell my services? Please answer if you are a business owner.?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Business owners are generally pretty busy and don’t have time to waste. We also get besieged with junk mail and phone call solicitations, so we have little patience for people that are pushing their services. Some advice:

1. Make your pitch fast and get straight to the point. Why is this in my best interests to use your service? Will it save me time or money? You have about 20seconds to make your case before I lose interest.

2. Try different mediums. Phone calls are poor as they can come at the most inconvenient times (it may be best to ask if this is a good time before launching your pitch). Ditto with office visits. A mailing might be better, but if it looks like junk mail it will get tossed out fast. Email might be better since they can be read when convenient.

3. Make sure you are talking to someone who can make decisions. If they cannot, find out who does and get their contact info.

4. Don’t piss off the owner if they aren’t interested! If you are too pushy you risk alienating me. Your offer might not make sense to me right now, but in the future things might change. If I remember you as a jerk I won’t want your services no matter what.

How do you justify a free market approach to business and support for corporate welfare?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The US spends more on corporate welfare than on welfare for poor people.

You don’t. The blending of capitalism and socialism is a dangerous thing, as we have seen recently. Government can’t run anything, yet they tell us how to run business; ergo business fails.

After 9 11 they did the same thing with the airlines, but the lower service airlines prospered without help by just doing things differently and appealing to more money minded people. Businesses need to have the chance to fail, or they won’t make sound business decisions. This leeds to corporate welfare.

As a conservative I think the bailout is a bad deal, but the mixing of philosophies that caused it is far, far worse.

How Do I approach a business with a similar idea ..?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I have a business idea that fits into the idea of another business….is it wise to contact them regarding how they have set there business up or even how I may be able to partner with them? I am just at a loss to know if I need a license , which department i need to register with …etc ..

First of all you cant Patent an Idea. You call them out of the blue and tell them what you want to do, they can say thats a damn good idea and hang up on you.

You need to get a Non-Compete agreement, and a Non-Circumvent Non- Disclouser agreement. This will keep them from doing your idea for say 2 years without you being involved. Its easy to get around these, but if its that good of an idea, you meet with them in your attorneys office. Ive had many meetings like that and just said after I signed everything, thanks for your time im not interested but good luck. Didnt take their idea but sometimes told them where to go that might. Sometimes I did.

I just walked into a company last week and I demanded 40% of their company for my idea. They said whats your idea? We met with the attornies and they agreed, they gave me 40% of their company. But dont be stupid. They said can we offer a cash settlement? I said nope. They said can we lease it? I said nope. They said okay, you can have 40% of the company. I said 40% of the revenue 3rd party tells me what it is. They said thats more then fair. I said im head of board of directors and I have 100% veto power if I think you are screwing me. All was agreed too.

No I dont work for the company. I will never go in the office again, they just liked me idea.

If its that good of an idea you absolutely need attorneys involved before you tell them.

How do I approach potential patients on the phone for my chiropractic business?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I have openned my business in a day spa. People are calling in all day to book appts and I have the chance to be at the front desk so I can talk to people about the fact that there is a chiropractic office now in the place. I don’t know how to approach the phone people.

As warm and friendly as possible. When the business they initially called for is handled, ask them , "Did you know we now have chiropractic services available? ( They will probably say no, but it doesn’t really matter) "Yes, well you’re speaking with the chiropractor now." Then be very conversational….you need to sell yourself. If they like you they will refer you to friends if they currently do not need these services. The most important thing is to be approachable and warm. A year and a half ago I started to practice as a PA-C in a doctor’s office. Just being warm and friendly (and willing to listen to patients) established a good patient clientele for me…..even more than the fact that I am a good practitioner.

How do I find models for my new photography business. What should my card read? How to approach possible mdls?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I am in the process of making my business cards, so some catchy ideas will be great. Also, how do I approach someone that I may feel would be great for a photoshoot, or headshots without them thinking I am some perv? I am serious about that. I have passed up so many prospective models. Any and all serious suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
