web technology

Web technology definitely plays a great role in distance learning requirements, business meetings, in education centres etc. The main reason is it saves travel time & cost which in turn meets any organization/institute’s ethical responsibility to reduce carbon emissions, it improves information sharing thru hi-tech collaboration.

Through such technologies children can easily see colorful, movable images and diagrams even from the back of the classroom & combine different types of media instantly and simultaneously across multiple locations. Touch-screen technology allows immediate changes to spreadsheets, database queries or text documents.

I work in an MNC and we use such technologies for group meeting, training our foreign counterparts, sharing information and it complete replaces physical meetings making it easier to save money and time. You can see many such software solutions on Smarter Interactive website and can know many other benefits of web technologies.

Web technology has significantly changed the exchange of information, allowing anyone with access to a personal computer with on-line capability the opportunity to gather substantial materials from diverse and wide-ranging sources. Computer literacy and Internet facility are still not universal skills, though more and more individuals are becoming skilled at using computers and at accessing the Internet. By creating a digital framework in which a community of peers can evaluate and organize these efforts, we can begin to build not only an increasingly robust and complex array of learning opportunities for adult students of diverse and often entrenched learning styles, but the knowledge base by which their teachers can establish best practices, pedagogical strategies, and an in understanding of their endeavor. The Internet has had a profound impact on the ways in which many different tasks are accomplished.

Whose approach to learning about things would fit in better with the world today? Plato or Aristotle?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Both valued wisdom and virtue and the search and understanding of truth, but I think Plato’s approach was better as Plato allowed for a higher order of thinking and forms that could be achieved.

I like Aristotle and his ethical platforms are incredibly useful, but Plato inspires not just to leave the cave but to search for something higher, almost unattainable.

I’m on my way.

"Web Technology role in “Distance Learning” is the final and ultimate approach to meet the learning requirements of new era. Justify the statement."

The nature of the "information age" and communication are changing rapidly. Technologies that were previously considered advanced are becoming commonplace and new technologies are still being developed. The nature of this trend is evident in the multitude of definitions of long distance learning. Distance education is becoming a common practice as evidenced by the number of universities that offer distance education programs, the number of businesses offering distance learning and training programs, and the number of distance learning projects K-12 that are being created or are currently in use. Many educational institutions are relying on communication technologies, such as distance learning, to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of education. Rapid advances in computer and telecommunications capabilities have made possible the development of learning modules that include elements such as video transmission, e-mail, the Internet, and the World Wide Web. The use of less exotic (cable and broadcast television, audio-conferencing, fax, a compressed video network, telephone, and voice mail), and therefore, less expensive technologies in our attempt to equalize access to educational resources.

"Web Technology role in “Distance Learning” is the final and ultimate approach to meet the learning requirements of new era. Justify the statement."

Question:-
"Web Technology role in “Distance Learning” is the final and ultimate approach to meet the learning requirements of new era. Justify the statement."

Answer
Web technology has considerably changed the exchange of information, allowing anyone to access with a personal computer with on-line capability the opportunity to gather substantial materials from various and comprehensive sources. Computer literacy and internet facilities are still not universal skills, though more and more individuals are becoming skilled by using computers and by accessing the Internet. By creating a digital framework in which a community of peers can assess and organize these efforts, we can begin to build not only an increasingly healthy and complex collection of learning opportunities for adult students of different and often well-established learning styles, but the knowledge base by which their teachers can establish best practices, educational strategies, and an in understanding of their enterprise. The Internet has had a thoughtful impact on the ways in which many different tasks are talented

Are the Pimsleur Approach cds any good for learning a new launguage?

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I’m a little skeptical because it says you can learn a new language in 10 days, which in my opinion is a little crazy.
I really want to learn french and rosetta stone is way to expensive and when I found that Pimsleur is only 10 bucks right now with no s&h I was considering buying it, but the reviews I’ve read are mixed. Please tell me (if you have tried them) what you think?

It’s called Pimsleur not Pimsleur Approach. Pimsleur Approach are only a reseller of the courses and their "learn a language in 10 days" ads are kind of absurd. I’ve never seen Pimsleur actually claim that. Sure after 10 days (10 lessons) you’ll be talking and understanding some, but to say that you’ll have learned a language altogether is laughable. I usually recommend Pimsleur to beginner students. If you want a method that focuses on conversational skills, Pimsleur is the reference imo. It’s a real confidence builder, which is essential for new students. You will learn to train your ear to understand natives (an essential part of early learning often overlooked by other methods), develop very good pronunciation and acquire the core structures and grammar of your new language (exactly what RS fails to do.) It’s also almost half the price of RS (check Amazon or even iTunes Store.) Regarding Rosetta, most people have no idea what they are actually buying. Yes, Rosetta has an amazing marketing machine yet most people know little about the product. Rosetta doesn’t teach you the language. It teaches vocabulary. There’s a big distinction. Rosetta is certainly not the method I would recommend to a beginner that hopes to SPEAK the language (I assume that’s your goal?). Rosetta Stone uses a flashcard method and like all other flashcard methods, it helps expand your vocabulary base but it will not teach you the core of the language or conversational skills. Knowing many words doesn’t mean you can speak the language. Once you are finished with Pimsleur, that’s when a vocabulary builder method such as Rosetta (there are cheaper alternatives though like BYKI, Babble, etc.) has its place. Daily conversation in the language after completing Pimsleur is really ideal. Good luck. I hope this helps.

How can you say that E-learning is a new approch for learning?
and with comparison to learning inside the classroom

and how and what does e-learning develops students skill and learning?

It is a new approach to learning in that now is the first time in history it has been available. Learning inside the classroom you are spoon fed what you need to learn, electronic learning you can set your own pace and your subject matter. Also if you bother to learn how to use search engines then you can do your own research and find out the things of relevance to your studies.

I am currently learning piano with the chording approach. Will this be useful for classical music?

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

I see that chording is very useful for modern songs and melodies. However, when I see classical music sheets, I don’t see the usefulness of chording.

What approach should I take with the piano if I want to learn classical music primarily?

Many modern songs follow simple chord progressions. Chording is difficult on classical piano as notes tend to move more and in scales. If you look at Beethoven, you’ll see many scales and runs with hardly any chords. In other words, a chord progression is much harder to see in classical music.

If you want to play classical music, I suggest you focus on scales, and practice less music that has chords written in.
