How would you expedite sustainable development?
"Given the responsibility for the development of a poor, overpopulated nation, what would you use in your long and short term plans to expedite sustainable development?"
Its a question on my geography exam and I’m not sure how to approach it. Thanks for the help.
I would use a decent law system.
Private property is essential for any country to rise above poverty.
Perhaps even land reform if the land is already controlled by a handful of elite. Of course, you raise the chance of aggrevating that handful.
I would invest my debt into infrastructure like roads, electricity, and working, clean water. In order to attract foreign investment, it’s best to have something that allows them to make their products and transport them.
A sound banking system would also be necessary.

I agree with the first post. I would add an education system and public health system that advocated birth control given that overpopulation is a problem. And given the word ’sustainable’ I would aim for greener and renewable options wherever possible.
Short term: public health/birth control, infrastructure building (public transport/roads, electrical (with solar/wind/geothermal), communication systems), general primary education, foreign aid/investment in these areas.
Long term: institution building (legal, financial, security), higher education, trade deals.
Peace
