I am currently learning piano with the chording approach. Will this be useful for classical music?
I see that chording is very useful for modern songs and melodies. However, when I see classical music sheets, I don’t see the usefulness of chording.
What approach should I take with the piano if I want to learn classical music primarily?
Many modern songs follow simple chord progressions. Chording is difficult on classical piano as notes tend to move more and in scales. If you look at Beethoven, you’ll see many scales and runs with hardly any chords. In other words, a chord progression is much harder to see in classical music.
If you want to play classical music, I suggest you focus on scales, and practice less music that has chords written in.
