science is a theory and admits it is, religion is a theory and insists it is fact. science has a number of…?
sources of reference to call upon, the religious book relies on itself. do we think the humbler approach (science) gains more credibility than religion as it at least admits it may be off the mark. Or should we just believe the bible/koran becuase it saya we should

An advocate of Faith believes he already understands.

I prefer science
science draws conclusions from established evidence
religion starts with a conclusion and tries to manipulate evidence to fit

Uhhh…religion isn’t even a decent HYPOTHESIS, actually — since it makes claims that cannot be falsified (proven not true)…

If science is a theory, why so much prejudice to those who do not embrace it, or those who disagree with it?
Also – why are they mutually exlusive?

The Bible insists that man is sinful, I would say this statement is has been empirically verified.

I’m going to make this as simple as I can…
Science isn’t a theory. It’s an epistemology. It’s not a body of knowledge. It’s a way of knowing.
Theology (the theory of religion) is the same thing.
Neither of them can prove nor disprove themselves because both of them require a priori assumptions about the nature of truth.
The proper realm for discussions of epistemology is the philosophical realm.
To attempt to use scientific method to disprove theology is as absurd as attempting to use theological reasoning to disprove science.

it is up to you and your views.
This is certanly a question most of the people decides themselfs.
I personally find the scientific approach more reliable, but I can accept that some people thinks about it differently.
The problems start when the two groups start to argue and try to convince each other what is pretty much pointless.

Science has rapidly reached the point where we are not supposed to question any of their conclusions, we are to simply believe them. Evolutionary theory is squawked about as a foregone fact, chiseled in granite forever more. Supporters act as if the entire culture will collapse into utter ruin if we remove evolution from out of our schools. They are woefully ignorant of the history of science. Biology would continue on as it always has. Ecology and environmental science would continue on as it always has. What would disappear from our culture is this incessant demand that everything must evolve. If I make excellent cabinets and chairs I cannot continue to do just this all of my life, I must evolve my craft and make armoirs, bedroom suites, dining room sets, and outdoor pogodas. That sort of thinking is what has helped force craftsmen/women into extinction.
The Bible/Koran is a book of faith and impacts "how" you live and relate to your God and to other people. Science does not trump faith, it can simply augment your faith by revealing more works of God.

wow, so many problems with your question:
first, "science is a theory " science is the process of finding fact. It is not a theory. Evolution is a theory, How gravity works is a theory, the existence of gravity is not a theory, gravity’s existence is fact. get it.
Second "religion is a theory" this i don’t have many problems with except by saying "theory" you are moving the term "religion" into a scientific area and since science is concerned mainly with the natural things of the supernatural (religion) are not applicable.
Third, "science has a number of sources of reference to call upon" if the history of science tells you anything it is that truth is not built by consensus. A little over a century ago science "proved" that meal worms came from wheat. what was unknown was that they actually came from the tiny eggs the adult meal worm laid on the wheat stalk.
Fourth, "the religious book relies on itself" No, it relies also on natural, philosophical, and historical evidences.

Absolutely.
Religion is a theory that can’t be disproved as such, but there is not a shred of evidence that points to a "superior being" or creator.
Therefore the chances of it being correct are infinitesimal.
About the same as the chances of the "Flying spaghetti monster" existing.
If you haven’t already heard of him, just Google it.
It’s a hoot!

This brings us back to the science versus religion bit. In my mind they can compliment each other.
We have evidence which proves the origan of our species(science) but who is to say that god did not Create things that science has yet to discover. We do not know. Science is good, without it we would still be in he dark ages with nothing but myths and to guide us. I do not think that god would have wanted us to be like this so he gave us the brain and the will to improve our lot. Perhaps some day he will prove his existence to us in ways we yet do not understand. In the meantime we just have to wait.
I do not think that the bible is meant to be read too literally. It has been translated into many different languages and probably started it’s days from writings on walls. Words change meanings over generations..By all means read it ,It tells you a lot about life and there many good stories and movies made on it but use your own god given judgement as how you interpret it.

Erm, I think you’re a bit behind the times. Ever heard of a guy called Richard Dawkins? The times when it was admitted that science was a theory are long past.

1. Science is a theory
2. Religion is a Hypothesis, due to the lack of evidence
Yes, because extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, there is zero or no evidence for the existence of god and there is zero or no evidence for the existence of the devil. They claim the power and ability of god and the devil is boundless, if this is true then a simple test to determine existence is in order.
This test will show either the gods/devils are not as powerful as claimed or they do not exist at all, in either case they do not deserve anyone’s worship.
Here is a simple god/devil test
1. God you will post on every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category on the internet in exactly 30 seconds (GMT) after this post has been made. You will post world wide and your post will state the following:
"I am god, I exist"
A) In every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category must have the same exact time stamp based on human time GMT.
2. Mr. Devil you will post on every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category on the internet in exactly 30 seconds (GMT) after this post has been made. You will post world wide and your post will state the following:
"I am devil, I exist"
A) In every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category must have the same exact time stamp based on human time GMT.
This simple test shows the devil does not exist and god does not exist. Furthermore, there is nothing that states we can not test the devil or god for that mater. The bible only states we should not test god, note the words should not.
On the other hand there is nothing written anywhere that states we should not or can not test the devil so we tested both for completeness.
Note that since god and devil or two dependent if we show one does not exist then the other does not exist.
We have shown that neither exists; there is no god and no devil
Now happier times are a head for all people
No religion is a theory and it has been shown to be wrong
